Boil Water Rescind Notice
On August 28, 2017, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) required our public water system City of La Grange, PWS ID 0750003 to issue a Boil Water Notice (BWN) to inform our customers that due to the presence of contaminants or an interruption in service, water from our system must be boiled prior to consumption.

Our system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore adequate pressure, disinfectant levels, and/or bacteriological quality and has provided TCEQ with testing results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling as of September 5, 2017 for that portion of the system that is currently receiving water.

The boil water notice will remain in effect for those customers that are currently not receiving water from La Grange Utilities.  A map of the area that remains under the boil notice is attached.

If you have questions, contact Jerome Blaha at 968-3127.

If a customer wishes to reach TCEQ, they may call 512-239-4691

Public Notice of Total Trihalomethane (TTHM) MCL Violation -
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has notified the CITY OF LA GRANGE  TX0750003 that the drinking water being supplied to customers had exceeded the Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) for total trihalomethanes.  The U.S. Environment Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) has established the MCL for total trihalomethanes to be 0.080 milligrams per liter (mg/L) based on locational running annual average (LRAA), and has determined that it is a health concern at levels above the MCL. Analysis of drinking water in your community for total trihalomethanes indicates a compliance value in quarter two of 2017 of 0.106 mg/L for DBP2-01 and and 0.081 mg/L for DBP2-02. Trihalomethanes are a group of volatile organic compounds that are formed when chlorine, added to the water during the treatment process for disinfection, reacts with naturally-occurring organic matter in the water. Some people who drink water containing trihalomethanes in excess of the MCL over many years may experience problems with their liver, kidney, or central nervous systems, and may have an increased risk of getting cancer. You do not need to use an alternative water supply.  However, if you have health concerns, you may want to talk to your doctor to get more information about how this may affect you. We are working with an outside firm to address the problem and are taking actions including the reduction of chlorine added to our system for disinfection. We will maintain the mandatory minimum amount of chlorine that is required. We will continue to flush the system through water mains and fire hydrants to move water through our system.

If you have questions regarding this matter, you may contact Frank Menefee, Jr. at 979-968-3127.
